Chamber music
The course is designed to give advanced students in pre-formed ensembles the opportunity to study chamber music intensively at an exceptionally high level.
Places are available for talented musicians aged 16 and upwards. There is an emphasis on string and wind ensembles including piano, although string quartets and wind quintets along with duos and unusual groupings are also encouraged. Please note that from 2007 onwards, you may only apply as a pre-formed ensemble.
During the course you will:
- Rehearse selected repertoire in your own allocated rehearsal space.
- Receive professional coaching in preparation for the end of course public concerts.
- Take part in a masterclass, with a leading professional artist and with the opportunity to attend other specialist masterclasses.
- Work with a composer to develop a new work for its first performance in a public concert.
- Develop ensemble techniques and skills through contact with other advanced players.
- Benefit from a unique opportunity to enhance your understanding of composers’ techniques and methods.
- Perform in two public concerts, both professionally recorded/produced.
